This is a compilation of some smaller videos of riding at Eureka Springs. We were going to the Vista Hotel but took a wrong turn. We ended up back where we started.

American college football has come a long way since the time when players were represented by little red lines of light; the quarterback was the brightest light. From college playoffs to Bowl Championship Series or the much hyped abbreviation BCS, it has been a long journey for the game, players and the fans.

The football system at the college level has changed drastically and is still in a fluid mode, we can expect some more changes next year, some more the next year and so on. It all started with the year 1992 when Bowl Coalition came up on the scene. It was followed by Bowl Alliance 1995-1997, which was succeeded by the Bowl Championship Series.

Most of the fans still prefer playoffs. But playoffs are a day of past now. BCS is present. It is a system or a lack of it, which selects the bowl champion. A very complex set of computer algorithms, math and public polls, are used by the BCS to decide the best two teams in the nation. These two teams are put up against each other in a match. The winner of the match becomes the bowl champion.

BCS is always in the controversies, for example, this year; Florida is going over one-loss Alabama because the Gators beat Alabama. But Oklahoma is going over one-loss Texas even though Texas beat Oklahoma. One-loss USC isn’t going because it lost at good-but-not-great Oregon State, but Florida is going even though it did lose to a good-but-not-great Mississippi (at home). Penn State isn’t going because it lost at Iowa, Texas Tech isn’t going even though its only loss was at No. 1 Oklahoma (it’s still the highest-ranked loss), Texas isn’t going even though its only loss was on the last play at Texas Tech, and Utah isn’t going even though it didn’t lose at all. Don’t even bother pondering over it and give your scalp some relief.

No doubt, the world is moving fast, Laptops replaced PCs (Mac replaced it too), Blackberry is slowly replacing laptops, but some things feel great the way they have always been. Football is all about raw passion and competition, during the playoffs such feeling exuded from the team, so much so that it rubbed on their fans as well. The teams knew how to be the champions, winning at all costs. That is how a sport should be played, like all other sports are played. Though it had its own flaws like a certain 10-6 NFL teams make the playoffs and certain ones don’t for obscure tiebreaker reasons, though the level of difficulty of all the divisions were not the same, but still playoffs used to produce true champions and that is what the audiences and fans want.

We would never know how the current teams would perform when pitted against the teams of the past, but do we really want to know that? Even the most complex programs can’t answer that question. There used to be no national champion in the pre BCS era and practically there is no one now either.

Our Eureka Springs, Arkansas Winter Vacation Getaway.

In addition to being a state capital city and county seat, the 117 square mile plot of real estate known as Little Rock, Arkansas is also home to nearly 200,000 residents, the entire metropolitan area enjoying a population of over 840,000, making it the state’s most populated city.

What makes up today’s Little Rock, Arkansas real estate had humble beginnings. For several millennia prior to the arrival of the Europeans on the land, it was occupied by Native Americans of several different tribes. It wasn’t until 1541 when Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto came through that the takeover by Europe began.

A small rock formation was used by explorers and settlers as a landmark throughout Little Rock’s early settlement history. In fact, a French explorer even gave the formation the name of “La Petite Roche,” which is where the city derives its name.

The Arkansas territory was formed in 1819. Little Rock was named its capital in 1821.

Things to Do in Little Rock

For the night owl, the River Market District, located downtown, has an eclectic mix of bars, music and dance clubs, many of which offer live music. Many of the clubs are within walking distance of each other, making it easy to find the genre of music or scene that you are looking for.

For the more classically inclined, Ballet Arkansas is the state’s only professional ballet company while the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra puts on concerts nine months each year.

During the day, the River Market District includes a nostalgic bazaar-style market hall, while from April to October a farmer’s market is open. The Willow Springs Water Park is a popular attraction, but also has historical significance as one of the nation’s first water theme parks built in 1928.

Little Rock also houses Arkansas’ only zoo and the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) headquarters. Each year, the World Taekwondo Championships are held there.

Notable Residents

Music is an important part of Little Rock’s night life. As such, the city has produced some notable musicians including the band Evanescence, scat singer Richard Boone, Christian metal band Living Sacrifice, Green Day backup guitarist Jason White, and Jazz musicians Art Porter, Sr. and Jr.

Other well-known residents include General Douglas McArthur, Gil Gerard (actor who played Buck Rogers during the 1979-1981 television series), General Wesley Clark, as well as several famous athletes from sports such as basketball, football, and boxing.

So it could be said that Little Rock, Arkansas real estate is a great place to visit, and perhaps even a better place to live.

Eureka Springs, Arkansas is a place so unique that you just almost have to be there to describe it. One of the main attractions in Eureka Springs is The Great Passion Play. The Great Passion Play is America’s #1 attended outdoor drama! This incredible play is about the last 7 days of the life of Christ. If you liked “The Passion” film, you absolutely have to see the real live presentation of The Great Passion Play. It’s an experience you won’t forget!

Another main attraction in Eureka Springs is the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down Music Theater. You haven’t seen a music show, until you’ve seen this one! You’ll be rolling every time “P. Nutt” hits the stage, along with “Granny” and “Girl”. P. Nutt has a way with the audience that just puts you in the palm of his hand. You can’t help but love this character! He’s absolutely hilarious – and when Granny or Girl is by his side, anything can happen. Rather than sticking to a script, the entire cast interacts with the audience and involves the crowd’s reaction in everything they do!

In addition to hilarious comedy, you’ll hear some of the best musicians around. The band is tight, the singers are fantastic, and the entertainment is unmatched anywhere in the Ozarks. You’ll hear lots of Gospel music, new and old country, bluegrass, and even a little rock thrown in here and there. It’s a main event that you won’t want to miss!

So, now that you know there are wonderful things to see and do in Eureka Springs, where are you going to stay? This isn’t a place where you simply pick your motel chain and go. You’ve got your choice of motels, hotels, local inns, bed and breakfasts, and cozy cabins. Cinnamon Valley Resort is a wonderful place to stay if you’re looking for a nice cabin. The Statue Road Inn is a great motel that is located right next to the Great Passion Play. And there are countless others that are wonderful, too!

Looking for a place to shop? You won’t have to look far in this town. The entire downtown Historic area is all shopping! These little stores are some of the most unique venues around. You’ll find candy shops, art galleries, and original clothing just to name a few. A trolley will take you to and from your motel to the downtown area, so you don’t even have to worry with parking.
